Newport News, Va. - A 20-year-old woman was stabbed to death in Newport News Sunday afternoon.
Police received a call about the stabbing in the 800 block of Loraine Drive at 2:42 p.m.
Police arrived on scene to find the woman with a life-threatening stab wound to her upper body. An officer performed CPR until medics arrived.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 20-year-old Abigail Cruz.
A 16-year-old female was detained at the scene. She has been charged with one count of first degree murder and use of a knife in the commission of a felony. She is currently being held in detention.
The suspect's name will not be released due to the age.
