Portsmouth, Va. – A Sunday evening shooting in Portsmouth left one man dead and another injured, police say.
Emergency dispatchers received a call from Maryview Medical Center at 5:47 p.m. notifying them that two men had arrived with gunshot wounds.
One man has serious injuries and was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died as a result. He has been identified as 29-year-old Marquis Benton.
The other victim had non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released.
It is unknown at this point where the shooting occurred.
