Perquimans County, NC – John and Nita Jackson, the parents of six brothers who were accused of sexually abusing their younger sister will spend more time behind bars.
On Monday, they pleaded guilty and were sentenced as part of a plea deal in Perquimans County Superior Court.
According to the Daily Advance, John Jackson pleaded guilty to two counts of felony child abuse and Nita Jackson pleaded guilty to two counts of felony child abuse with a sex act.
According to the District Attorney Andrew Womble, the victim in this case, their daughter, did not want to testify against her parents. She said she did not have an issue testifying against her brothers. Womble says the only reason he offered the plea deal was to prevent the girl from testifying.
Both were sentenced to a minimum of 31 months in prison and a maximum of 47.
Both were arrested in February. John Jackson was arrested again on February 3rd and Nita Jackson was arrested on February 5th after she was pulled over for a traffic violation.
Their sons were arrested in May of 2014. Their sons were charged after allegations that they had sex with their younger sister over a 10-year period.
Nita and John were charged based on allegations that they knew about the sexual abuse but did nothing to stop it.
