Two vehicles crash into Suffolk building

Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue are on the scene of an accident involving two cars that crashed into a building in downtown Suffolk.

Police received a call at 3:05 p.m. about the accident, which involved a Chrysler Sebring and Honda Accord.

No one was in the building at the time of the accident.

Fire and Rescue crews provided emergency medical assistance at the scene and three men and two women were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The building, which used to be a store called Uptown Varieties, sustained damage as a result of the accident.

All lanes of Carolina Road northbound were closed after the accident, but are now open.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
