Newport News, Va. – A man is in the hospital after being shot Sunday night in Newport News, according to police.
The shooting happened around 5:38 p.m. on Aqua Vista Drive near King Lincoln Park.
When officers got to the scene, they found a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a hospital with a potentially life-threatening injury. His condition has improved and he is expected to survive.
Evidence from the scene shows that more than one weapon was fired.
Officers detained one person near the scene. That person was interviewed and released.
No one has been charged at this time.
The incident remains under investigation.
