Police: Shooting in Hampton has ‘strong drug undertones’

Hampton, Va. – Police are investigating an afternoon shooting on October 2.

At around 1:00 p.m., officers were sent to the 500 block of Homestead Avenue in reference to a shooting.

Public Safety Communications was told that an adult male shooting victim arrived at the Sentara Careplex. He was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators have determined that the victim was in the 500 block of Homestead Avenue when he was shot.

Police are unsure of the motive and are investigating the incident, but say that it has “strong drug undertones.”

There is no information about the suspect at this time.
