Two vacant homes damaged by fire in Chesapeake

Chesapeake, Virginia - Fire officials are working to determine how a vacant home caught fire in the 1100 block of Commerce Avenue in the South Norfolk section of the city.

The fire was reported to dispatch shortly after 3:00am.

Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a two-story house.

The fire had also extended to a second two-story house.

Both homes were severely damaged by the fire.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control at 3:51.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
