Iredell County, N.C. – 22 people have been taken to a hospital after the roof of a walkway collapsed at a high school in Olin, North Carolina. It’s about an hour north of Charlotte.

Officials tell WGHP that a truck hit an outside structure at North Iredell High School around 3:00 p.m. Saturday during a regional band competition. They also report that 21 students and one adult were transported to the hospital. No word yet on the names of the victims nor the extent of their injuries.

The incident occurred as a delivery van hit a structural beam at the front entrance of the school. The roof of the walkway then fell on the people attending the band competition.

Still no reason as to why the driver hit the structural beam.
