Hampton Roads, Va. – Normal 911 service was interrupted across several Peninsula and Eastern Shore cities Sunday afternoon.
Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News, York-Poquoson, Williamsburg, James City County, Isle of Wight County and portions of the Eastern Shore all lost service, and advised citizens to call their non-emergency numbers.
John Bonomo with Verizon says it appears that a fuse blew in one of their central offices causes customers to get a busy signal. He said service was fully restored just before 3:00 p.m.
