Elizabeth City, North Carolina - A man was shot in the neck while driving in Elizabeth City around 1:20am Tuesday morning, according to police.
Police say Christopher Harrell was driving a 2005 black Pontiac Bonneville on Southern Avenue when he heard gunshots and was struck in the neck.
Harrell's vehicle then ran off the road hitting a utility pole at the intersection of Southern Avenue and Douglas Street.
Harrell regained control of the car and drove to Dance Street, where his brother was called to drive him to the hospital.
Officers responding to the shooting spotted the vehicle Harrell and his brother were in and followed them to the hospital.
Other officers in the area of Moore and Dance Street found Harrell's vehicle with bullet holes in the windshield and passenger door.
Harrell was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and is said to be in fair condition.
