Teen reportedly robbed and assaulted at his Newport News home

Newport News, Va. – A teenager was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in his own backyard by three men late Monday night, according to Newport News Police.

Police say the 17-year-old reported that around 11:20 p.m., he went into his backyard in the 400 block of Charter Oak Drive to take his dog out and noticed the three men.

One of the men pointed a gun at the victim and forced him to to go inside the house and lay face-down on the ground.

During the incident, the victim attempted to fight back but the men began punching and kicking him, police say.

The men took the victim’s phone, but gave it back before running out of the front door of the home.

No descriptions of the men were given.
