Norfolk, Va. – A 51-year-old North Dakota man was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison and lifetime supervised release for enticement of a 13-year-old Virginia Beach girl.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Scott Thomas Sandler met the 13-year-old girl on Facebook in March 2014. The two struck up an online relationship that turned sexual quickly and Sandler sent her numerous images of his genitals. This continued for approximately one month.
The victim’s father discovered the relationship and notified the Virginia Beach Police Department, who identified Sandler by his pictures.
After he was identified, his computers were confiscated and searched. It was discovered that Sandler had been having online sexual relationships with other minors and had collected hundreds of sexually explicit images of minors from the Internet.
