Two in custody after attempted robbery in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. – Two people are in custody after police received a call about an attempted robbery in the 100 block of Waverly Drive in Virginia Beach on Wednesday night.

Calls came in at 9:13 p.m.

Police say that two men with flashlights dressed in dark clothes appraoched a house that they thought was empty.

They went into the backyard when no one answered the front door.

Officers arrived on the scene and the suspects ran from the officers.

After a police helicopter and police K-9 searched for the suspects, they were taking into custody by 10:30 p.m.

Timothy Wayne Gurley, 39, has been charged with breaking and entering and recovation of suspended sentence.

Russell Richard Gurley, 34, has been charged with breaking and entering.

Both are being held in Virginia Beach City Jail without bond.
