The maker of a popular brand of children’s applesauce pouches has issued a voluntary recall after mold was found in some of its products.
GoGo Squeez is recalling applesauce shipped nationwide with a “best before date” between June 30, 2016, and July 26, 2016.
The company said a production issue could cause the applesauce pouches to harbor fruit mold.
No other GoGo Squeez products are impacted by this recall.
The company’s CEO Michel Larroche says the mold poses no health risk.
“However, we know mold is gross and unpleasant to look at or taste, and this is simply not the kind of experience we want you to have,” Larroche writes. “We were able to catch most of the potentially affected products before they got to the stores. However, a small amount may still have reached store shelves,” Larroche continues.
The company says because of the recall, it may be harder to find GoGo Squeez applesauce in the coming weeks.
Anyone with these products is asked to visit GoGo Squeez online or call 1-844-275-5841.
