Police arrest two men after shooting leaves two wounded in Edenton

Edenton, NC – Police have captured the two men who they say shot two other men in Edenton, North Carolina near John A. Holmes High School.

Jabazz Long and Linward Bailey have both been arrested and charged.

Long and Bailey were arrested in Bertie County with the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Chowan County Sheriff’s Office.

They were taken into custody without incident.

They have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury.

The incident occurred on October 17th, 2015.

Officers responded to a shooting incident in the 200 block of East. Freemason Street around at 6:00 p.m.

When they arrived, they found Shandez Williams, 18, and Christopher Cohen, 17, both of Edenton, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Chief of Police Jay Fortenberry. Both were airlifted to Vidant Hospital in Greenville, NC.

Fortenberry also says that while the motive is unknown at this time, the shooting does not appear to have been a random act.

Police say they have not found the weapon yet.

Williams is reported in critical condition and Cohen is stable.
