Hampton, Va. – A person was shot in the city of Hampton on Monday evening and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Officers went out to the scene in the 3400 block of Custer Court.
Calls came in at around 3:43 p.m.
Police say the victim, a 19-year-old man, was found at the scene with a single gunshot wound to his leg.
They cannot confirm that the actual shooting happened on Custer Court, which is off of Big Bethel Road near Francis Mallory Elementary School.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
He said he was walking around in the area when he heard gunshots and was struck by a bullet.
Police have not released any other information about the victim or a possible suspect.
