Elizabeth City, N.C. – A crash involving three vehicles sent three people to the hospital, leaving two of people involved in critical condition.

Police responded to a three car crash on US 17 around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found a 2004 Honda Civic crossed the center line of the street and hit a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria head on.

The crash caused both of the cars to spin in the middle of the street and hit a 2001 Dodge truck.

The Dodge truck, driven by Duran Montano, had minimal damages. The Ford Crown Victoria and Honda Civic were considered “total losses.”

The driver and passenger of the Honda were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Randy Jones, the driver of the Ford Crown Victoria, was treated at Albemarle Hospital and later released.

Montano was able to drive away from the scene.

Police say that alcohol was a factor in the accident. Charges are pending.
