Three arrested on drug, child abuse charges in Dare County

Dare County, N.C. - Two men and a woman have been arrested on drug and child abuse charges after a traffic stop in Dare County.

Members of the County Narcotics Task Force who were investigating complaints of drug activity in the Buxton area of Hatteras Island stopped a car with the three inside on October 23rd.

Officers found Mephedrone inside the car and arrested 42-year-old Linda Lou Deem, 24-year-old Justin Lee Moore and 20-year-old Isaiah Dorean Shaffer.

Mephedrone is a recreational drug commonly referred to as Bath Salts or the Zombie Drug.

During the traffic stop a child was found unsecured on the floor of the car and Social Services was contacted.

Deem is being held in lieu of a $42,500 secured bond on the following charges: Felony Conspire to Sell / Deliver Mephedrone, Felony Possession with the Intent to Sell / Deliver Mephedrone, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Child Abuse.

Moore is being held in lieu of a $42,400 secured bond on the following charges: Felony Conspire to Sell / Deliver Mephedrone, Felony Possession with the Intent to Sell / Deliver Mephedrone, Misdemeanor Possession of less than one half ounce Marijuana, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Child Abuse.

Shaffer is being held in lieu of a $17,500 secured bond on charges of: Felony Possession of Mephedrone, Misdemeanor, Possession of less than one half ounce Marijuana, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The Dare County Narcotics Task Force is made up of the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, Nags Head Police Department, Kill Devil Hills Police Department, Kitty Hawk Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations and North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement.
