Crews put out attic fire in Suffolk home

Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews put out an attic fire Wednesday morning at a home in the 1500 block of River Creek Crescent off Wilroy Road.

Emergency Communications received the call at 6:55 a.m. and the first units arrived on scene at 7:03 a.m.  The two adult occupants of the home had evacuated before firefighters arrived.

The fire was confined to the exterior wall in the attic area of the gable, and the cause was determined to be an overheated attic fan.

There were no injuries reported and the fire was called under control at 7:25 a.m.

Responding units included Engines 3 and 6, Ladders 3 and 6, EMS-1, Rescue 1 and Medic 3A.
