Newport News, Va. – A Newport News man faces several charges after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident and assaulting an officer.

On October 27th at 11:26 a.m., two officers in separate vehicles were driving in the 1000 block of 24th Street when the officer in the first vehicle witnessed a driver collide with the rear driver side of a parked car.

The driver of the vehicle, 41-year-old George Percell Davis of Newport News, kept going and the first officer motioned for him to pull over.

Davis pulled over and was approached by the second officer on foot. Police say Davis then pushed the second officer and ran away towards Wickham Ave.

Officers searched the area and a third officer found Davis in the 2200 block of Madison Ave.

Davis was charged with Leaving the Scene, Driving on a Suspended License and Assault on Law Enforcement.
