Virginia Beach, Va. – The intersection of Salem Road and Indian River Road was closed for a while early Sunday morning after an ATV crash left a man dead in the 3600 block of Winston Avenue.

Emergency dispatch received calls around 1:30 a.m. with reports of an ATV crash near Salem Road.

When Police arrived on scene they found an adult male victim who had succumbed to his accident related injury, according to Patrick Kane a spokesperson for Virginia Beach Police.

Police have identified the victim as 24-year-old Joshua Anthony Hutchinson of Virginia Beach.

Authorities say Hutchinson was driving an ATV on dirt trails near the crash location when he left the trails and drove on the roadway.

He was Southbound on Winston Avenue when his ATV veered to the right side of the road, running into a ditch and hitting trees.

Hutchinson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Kane says speed and alcohol may have been factors.
