Fire rips through Norfolk home

Posted

Norfolk, Va. – A fire that blazed through a Norfolk home late Saturday night in the 1600 block of Rich Avenue sent someone to the hospital and left 5 people without a place to stay.

Battalion Chief Brian Nichols with Norfolk Fire-Rescue says when crews arrived around 10:30 p.m. they found smoke showing from the single story residence. It took crews about 10 minutes to gain control of the fire.

The American Red Cross is helping the two adults and three children who were displaced by the blaze.

Nichols says the fire started in the kitchen, but they have not determined a cause.

The fire is still under investigation.

One person sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
