Norfolk, Va. – The votes are in and it looks like we have a winner.

Norfolk’s Colley Avenue has been voted the People’s Choice designation as one of the greatest places in America for 2015.

The American Planning Association asked the public to nominate their favorite public space or neighborhood. They collected suggestions all October  through social media outlets.

They selected five finalists out of hundreds of suggestions.

The other finalists included Florence, Alabama; South Bend, Indiana and Somerville, Massachusetts.

“Norfolk is a vibrant, historic port city, filled with authentic, diverse neighborhoods and Colley Avenue in Ghent is just one the many gems our city has to offer.” said Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim. “We are honored to have won this recognition, and excited to be able to share this special and unique place.”

According to planning.org, a designation ceremony will be held later in November.
