Suspect arrested in connection with ‘narcotics related’ shooting in Hampton

Hampton, Va. – Police arrested a man in connection to a shooting in Hampton that sent a teenage boy to the hospital.

The shooting was drug related, according to police.

Police were called out to the 2000 block of Seldendale Drive on Thursday around 7:00 p.m.

Officers found the victim, a 19-year-old male from Hampton, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police say the investigation shows that the suspect, 29-year-old Roderick Everett, Jr., and the victim knew each other.

The two men started arguing, then pulled out their guns and began shooting at each other.

The victim was shot multiple times during the incident. He remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Everett ran away from the scene before police arrived, but was later arrested.

Everett was charged with one count of maiming, one count of the use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.  He remains in jail.
