Newport News, Va. – Police are now investigating after an accident involving a Nissan sedan and a pick-up truck shut down traffic on Ft. Eustis Boulevard on Friday afternoon.

Police say they were called out to the scene at 3:41 p.m. in the area of the Newport News Waterworks reservoir.

Initial reports said that people were trapped inside of their vehicles.

When police arrived, they say the Nissan was wedged under the pick-up truck.

The driver of the sedan was out of the car, but the driver of the pick-up truck was still inside of the vehicle.

The vehicles were stabilized before the driver was allowed out of the vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

Crews had to close traffic while the crash was being investigated.

The vehicles were removed and the road reopened a few minutes before 5 p.m.

Brian Pilati, 56, of Newport News was issued a summons for following too closely.
