Fire at scrap metal yard in Chesapeake now under control

Chesapeake, Va. – Fire crews were able to  quickly control a debris fire at Sims Metal Management in the 4300 block of Buell Street in Chesapeake on Monday morning.

Calls reporting the fire came in around 7:30 a.m., according to Captain Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department.

The fire occurred within a large pile of debris, the fire department confirmed.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control by 8:25 a.m. No one was injured.
