A soggy start to the week… Expect widespread clouds and rain today as an area of low pressure moves across the Southeast. Rain will build in this morning from south to north. Rain will continue through tonight and could be heavy at times. Clouds and showers will continue for Tuesday but rain will not be as widespread. Rainfall totals will reach near 1” for most of Hampton Roads with higher totals possible, especially in Eastern NC. Skies will clear out for Wednesday. Highs will bounce between the mid 60s and low 70s for most of the work week.

Tropical Update
Tropical Storm Kate gains strength over the central Bahamas. It is centered about 15 miles ENE of Cat Island and about 170 miles SE of Great Abaco Island. Kate is moving NW at 15 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph but some strengthening is expected over the next few days. TS Kate will likely impact the Bahamas today and tomorrow before making a NE turn. Based on the current forecast track, TS Kate will remain off of the U.S. East Coast through midweek before moving out into the Atlantic near Bermuda.
