Tropical Storm Kate is now moving away from the Bahamas and could become a hurricane by Wednesday.
Kate is centered about 280 miles North-Northeast of the Northwestern Bahamas and about 695 miles West-Southwest of Bermuda.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 80 miles from the center.
The storm is moving north at 17 mph and is expected to turn Northeast and move faster over the next few days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph and some strengthening is expected.
Kate will remain off of the East Coast today before moving out into the Atlantic near Bermuda.
There are no watches or warnings in effect at this time.
