This year marks The Salvation Army’s 125th Red Kettle Campaign, which benefits millions of people in need during the holidays and throughout the year.
For the 19th year, the Salvation Army has teamed up with the Dallas Cowboys to kick off the campaign. Since they’ve started that partnership, over $2 billion has been raised.
The campaign kickoff officially occurs during the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Carolina Panthers.
The focus of this year’s national Red Kettle Campaign is to encourage Americans to share their reasons for giving using the hashtag #RedKettleReason in social posts.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his daughter and Cowboys VP Charlotte Jones Anderson, along with Salvation Army International Leader General André Cox, and Salvation Army National Commander Commissioner David Jeffrey spoke to NewsChannel 3 on Wednesday about the campaign.
NewsChannel 3's Blaine Stewart also made sure to let Jerry Jones know that we are the "Home of the Redskins" and asked if he had a message for the Redskins fans...
His reply?
"Be sweet to us."
