Portsmouth, Virginia - Two men were shot near Roger Brown's Restaurant in the 300 block of High Street in downtown Portsmouth on Thanksgiving morning. One of the men later died after being transported to the hospital.

The shooting happened around 2:00am, police say.

Portsmouth Police officers arrived to the scene to find one of the men in front of Roger Brown's and the other man was found inside the Middle Street garage, both suffering gunshot wounds.

Both men were transported to the hospital.

The man found in front of Roger Brown's died at the hospital. He has been identified as 23-year-old Terrance L. Hoggard of Suffolk.

Terrance's uncle, Keith, says it was a phone call he never expected.

"I mean he's like the kid you want all your kids to be like," he says. "A good kid, took care of his child, worked."

Keith says Terrance has a one-year-old son, and he is asking anyone who knows anything about the shooting on Thursday to call police.

"I can't bring him back, but I would just like the suspect to be caught, and tried, and be over with."

The second victim remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

At this time detectives do not have a motive or a suspect in this case.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
