Norfolk, Va. (WTKR)- The USS Bainbridge (DDG 96) returned to Naval Station Norfolk on Wednesday morning after a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 6th Fleet Area of Operations.
Happy families and loved ones waited anxiously on the pier for their Sailors to return. Despite the heavy fog, the ship still arrived right on time!
Yeoman Norma Funes assigned to the USS George HW Bush was on the pier to welcome her brother home. She was grateful not only to share a home port with her brother but to also have him home in time for Christmas.
"The fact that like we both did 7 month deployments I understand and I’m just ready to hear all his sea stories," she told NewsChannel 3's Todd Corillo Wednesday.
While the USS Bainbridge was deployed, more than 100 Sailors on board were promoted.
