Man on skateboard hit by car while crossing Hampton Boulevard

Norfolk, Va. – A 19-year-old on a skateboard was seriously injured when he was hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross Hampton Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at the intersection of 38th Street and Hampton Boulevard, police say.

Two southbound lanes on Hampton Boulevard were stopped at the light but a Kia traveling in the turn lane for 38th Street hit the man on the skateboard.

Neither the man nor the driver of the vehicle saw each other due to a tractor-trailer stopped at the light, blocking the field of view.

The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but the are not believed to be life threatening.

No charges have been filed.
