Accomack County, Va. – On December 9 around 9:30 p.m., Virginia State Police were called to a crash on Lankford Highway involving serious injuries.
The driver has been identified as Brandon O’Neil West, who was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer at a high speed.
West lost control of the vehicle, causing it to spin around backwards into the median that separated the north and southbound lanes of Route 13.
The backseat passenger, Devante Deshawn Harris, was ejected from the car. Harris suffered major injuries and died at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Maryland.
The four people inside of the car were not wearing seat belts and alcohol was involved, according to police.
The right rear passenger was seriously injured and taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The front seat passenger also suffered major injuries.
West was charged with involuntary manslaughter and for driving under the influence.
