Newport News, Va. – Police are investigating the attempted robbery of a Family Dollar on 13270 Warwick Boulevard.
On November 18 at around 10:00 p.m., officers were called to the store in reference to an attempted robbery.
Employees told police that three armed masked men entered the store and one had a handgun drawn.
A customer pulled out his concealed weapon and the three suspects ran out of the store.
The suspects appeared to wear the same shoes and similar clothing to suspects in a recent series of 7-Eleven and Family Dollar robberies in Hampton.
Hampton and Newport News are now conducting a joint investigation.
The first suspect is described as a black male with a medium build. Surveillance video shows him wearing a black hoodie, gloves, gray sweatpants and black shoes with white laces.
The second suspect is also described as a black male with a medium build. Video shows him wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, white gloves and black and white shoes.
The third suspect is described was a black male with a small build wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, white gloves and black shoes with white soles. He was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun with a silver side.
