Virginia Beach, Va. – A Norfolk man is now in custody after police say he made threats against the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.
Police arrested and charged 24-year-old Larry Thomas Mitchell-Stevens, of the 8500 block of Chesapeake Boulevard in Norfolk with a class 5 felony.
Officials say three phone calls were made on Thursday morning to emergency dispatch, and at least two of them threatened a shooting.
The Sheriff’s Office investigated and obtained an arrest warrant for Mitchell-Stevens.
They found him at the home of a family member in Norfolk where he was arrested without incident.
Security was increased at the courthouse and the Virginia Beach Correctional Center after the alleged threats were made.
Officials say this does not appear to have been an immediate danger to either location.
Mitchell-Stevens has been booked into the Virginia Beach Correctional Center where he is being held without bond.
