Two arrested after police chase down pair who robbed Virginia Beach Chanello’s

Virginia Beach, Va. – Two people were arrested and taken to the hospital following a robbery and police chase in Virginia Beach early Friday morning.

Police dispatch says the pair robbed the Chanello’s Pizza at 2226 Pleasure House Road shortly after midnight.

The two suspects demanded cash from employees. One of the suspects was armed with an assault rifle.

An employee escaped from the store and ran to a 7-Eleven, where she called the police.

Police noticed a car driving around the area without its headlights turned on. When police tried to stop the car, the car attempted to speed off but crashed.

Both suspects got out of the car and ran away after the crash, but were apprehended nearby.

Maceo Demetric Peoples and Raphah Warren Jones were taken to the hospital after the crash for evaluation.

Peoples, 21, was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of conspiracy, two counts of use of a firearm and two counts of abduction and eluding.

Jones, 23,  was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of conspiracy and two counts of use of a firearm.

Peoples and Jones are currently in custody of the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office.

No other injuries were reported.
