Norfolk, Va. - One man is dead after a shooting in on Grimes Avenue on Tuesday night.

Just after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, police were called about gunshots in the area.

Police arrived and found a man lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have identified the victim as 26-year-old Rohan Young.

"I was sitting in my living room and all the sudden I heard probably three or four gunshots," said Samantha Brown, a neighbor. "I looked out my back door and there was a guy laying the grass."

Brown's husband, Jonathan, tried to save the man by performing CPR on him. "Pulled up noticed the guy laying there and saw that he had blood on his shirt ran over there," Brown explained. "Asked what was going on. They said he had been shot so I just ran over there, try and keep him stable."

Brown says his instinct as a member of the Navy made him want to try and save Young.

The owner of Timeline Towing in Portsmouth says Young had worked there for about a month. He said he didn't know him well, but called him a "cool guy."

Police say no one is currently in custody and no one has been charged at this point.
