Norfolk, Va. (WTKR) - Downtown Norfolk will continue to flourish thanks to a program aiming to bring new businesses to the area.
The program, Vibrant Spaces, has generated 85 new business ideas and 12 existing business submissions in Downtown Norfolk.
“There were many very creative proposals, and the Vibrant Spaces committee has carefully considered all of them,” said Drew Ungvarsky, committee chair. “The process has been as exciting as it’s been challenging, trying to create the best combination of businesses and match them to the perfect spaces.”
Many businesses want to build locations after the boom of new restaurants under construction or opening in Downtown Norfolk right now.
A few of the new businesses announced include Parisian-style creperie Lamia’s Crepes, self-service dog wash and pet supplies store called Muddy Paws and Prince Ink Co., a premium screen printing business.
Brick Anchor Brew-House, Work | Release and The Hurrah Players will also receive business grants.
The Vibrant Spaces program wants to continue to help new and existing small businesses thrive by providing an additional $50,000 in matching grants. The committee plans to offer incentives to get new businesses established in Downtown Norfolk.
