Update: Norfolk Police have charged Brian Ethan Hall, 23, in connection to the murder of Johnason Smith. Hall is charged with 2nd Degree Murder, Malicious Wounding and two counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. Hall is currently being held in the Norfolk City jail without bond.
Norfolk, Va. – One man was killed and another wounded in a double shooting in Norfolk around 7:30 p.m. Friday evening, according to Norfolk Police.
Police were called to the 3800 block of S. Cape Henry Avenue after receiving reports of shots being fired.
Officers found one man suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived on scene. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and pronounced dead after arriving. Police have identified the victim as Johnason M. Smith, 28, of Norfolk.
Another victim was located a short time later in the 2300 block of Fairbanks Avenue. That man was also transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he is currently stable.
Police believe both victims were shot during the same incident, which occurred on Fairbanks Avenue.
Detectives have not released any suspect information and encourage anyone who may have any information about the shooting to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
