HRT bus catches fire in Chesapeake

Chesapeake, Va. – An unoccupied HRT bus caught fire on Wednesday around 3:40 p.m.

The bus was stopped at Robert Hall Boulevard and South Military Highway at the time of the incident,

The fire was in the engine compartment of the bus and was now under control as of 4 p.m.

Officials say the driver exited the bus to make a run and saw smoke coming from the back of the bus when he returned.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
