Portsmouth, Va. - Detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department Special Victims Unit are investigating the death of a one-year-old boy on Saturday as a homicide.

The mother of baby called 911 Saturday evening at 7:59 p.m., requesting medical assistance for a one-year-old boy who was not breathing in the 5100 block of George Washington Highway at Independence Square Apartments.
