More than 32,000 tickets in Virginia won prizes in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing.
But no one in Virginia or anywhere else matched all six numbers, so the jackpot for Saturday’s drawing grows to an estimated $334 million.
With a jackpot that large, the excitement level is growing and so are sales.
Virginia Lottery officials expect to sell about 705,000 Powerball tickets on Saturday alone in the Commonwealth.
If one ticket matches all six numbers, the winner will have a choice: Either take the full $334 million jackpot in 30 annual payments or choose a one-time cash option of approximately $205 million before taxes.
Meanwhile, the Virginia Lottery is preparing to create three new millionaires on Friday, when the winning tickets are drawn in Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle.
Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
