According to emergency dispatchers, a call came in at 3:01 p.m. for a U-Haul truck that crashed into a pole on the corner of Monticello Ave. and 14th Street.

The crash broke two power poles and damaged another, according to a spokesperson for Dominion Virginia Power.

Three transformers were also knocked down and need to be repaired.

More than 1,200 customers are affected and Dominion crews are on the scene working to restore power.  Police have also blocked off part of Monticello Ave.

Crews will have to reroute the electricity which will restore power for most customers.  Customers who live closer to the downed poles may not have power back until 6 p.m.
