Death of missing Portsmouth man found in Chesapeake ditch now labeled a homicide

Chesapeake, Va. – Police are now re-classifying the death of a Portsmouth man as a homicide.

Police found 27-year-old Al-Tariq Tynes lying in a ditch at the intersection of Grand Isle Drive and Rotunda Avenue around 1 p.m. on January 4.

Tynes’ family reported him missing from Portsmouth on December 11.

The case is still under investigation and the cause of death will not be released at this time.
