Norfolk, Va. – Police have identified the victim in Friday’s multi-vehicle crash in the 6500 block of Tidewater Drive.
According to police 67-year-old Roland J. Stone was found unresponsive in his tractor-trailer after swerving off the roadway and colliding with several other vehicles.
Stone was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died.
According to police, Stone may have suffered from a medical condition, but the exact cause of death is still unknown.
Other minor injuries were reported, and patients were taken from the scene to DePaul Medical Center for evaluation.
Investigators say Stone was traveling on Tidewater Drive. His trailer crossed the median and traveled into oncoming northbound lanes.
He struck two vehicles, causing a chain reaction as the oncoming traffic couldn’t avoid the scene.
Seven vehicles, including the tractor-trailer, were involved in the crash.
No one has been charged in this accident at this time.
