Virginia Beach, Va. - Police are investigating a fire that broke out at the Goodwill Thrift Store at 600 Lynnhaven Road.

It happened on November 29 around 1:30 a.m.

Surveillance video shows two people walking across the back of the store parking lot just before the fire started.

One of the suspects walked towards a pile of donated items unattended at the back of the building.

The video shows this man leaning over the donated items and setting them on fire.

The suspect leaves the area and joined the other man.

Both men left toward Sabre Street towards Lynnhaven Road South.

The fire damaged the back of the building, the back door, an awning and donated items.

A Goodwill spokesperson released the following statement about the arson.

“The unfortunate incident that involved two young males setting fire to Goodwill donations outside of our Lynnhaven store,  resulted in some minor exterior building damage.  We are thankful that no was seriously injured and that the damage was only minor.  Without donations from our generous community Goodwill could not provide individuals with obstacles to employment with the job training and career services they need to find and maintain meaningful employment in our community.  We ask that if anyone has more information about this incident to call the Virginia Beach police.”

If you have any information that might help investigators identify the two individuals shown in the surveillance video please contact the Virginia Beach Fire Prevention Bureau at 757-385-4248.
