Newport News, Va. – Newport News Police are investigating a robbery attempt where an armed man reportedly tried to steal morphine from a medical facility.

Police say they responded to an office in the 12000 block of McManus Boulevard just before 6:00 p.m. on January 8th.

When officers arrived, the victim, a 55-year-old man, told them that a man had entered the office and wrote a name in the patient log before demanding morphine. The man then pushed the victim into an office and pulled out a gun, again demanding the morphine.

It was then that a woman in the office spotted the man pointing the gun at the victim and she started to scream. The man then pointed the gun at the woman and ran out of the office.

No one was injured.

Witnesses were able to describe the man as a black male wearing a red jersey with a single yellow number on it. He was approximately 6′ tall and was spotted getting out of a white car.
