Accomack County, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating after a plane crashed in Accomack County.
Police received a call about a small plane crash at the Accomack County Airport just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
The pilot and passenger were able to escape the wreckage and were not injured.
They say the pilot was attempting to land a 1979 Piper Lance when a gust of wind caused him to run off of the runway.
The plane traveled across a grassy area and hit a storage shed and a light pole.
The plane then caught fire officials say.
