Hampton carjacking suspect arrested

Hampton, Va. – A Crime Line tip has lead to the arrest of a Hampton carjacking suspect.

According to police, officers responded to a robbery complaint on Michigan Drive on January 13 just after 5 p.m.

The victim, a 42-year-old man from Hampton, was driving with two passengers in the car.

The passengers, who knew the victim, pulled out guns and demanded the victim get out of the vehicle.

The victim got out of the car and the suspects got away.

The victim was unharmed.

James Lenwood Lamar Drew, 25, has been arrested in connection with this incident.

He has been charged with one count of carjacking, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Drew was also served with warrants for two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of brandishing a firearm, two counts of assault and battery, one count of robbery, an additional count of use of firearm in commission of a felony, and one count of revocation of suspended sentence that were on file from previous incidents.

Drew remains in custody at the Hampton City Jail.
