Drivers form human chain to save driver in trouble during winter storm

Posted

Truck driver Arlyn Satanek was driving in the midst of a snowstorm when he found himself inspired in a very unexpected way.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike near Pittsburgh was dangerously icy Tuesday, and Satanek pulled over when he saw another truck in trouble.

The veteran trucker told CNN affiliate WPXI that a truck was dangerously teetering on the edge of a cliff off the turnpike.

What he witnessed next blew him away.

“I’m sitting there in a daze, and I realize people are running to the truck,” Satanek said.

Drivers on the turnpike got out of their cars and ran over to the truck to help.

“To me, it just looked like this spontaneous, instinctive thing, that everyone just started hooking their arms together,” he said.

The group formed a human chain and were able to save the driver, removing him from the truck.

Satanek knew he had to get a photo to capture this extraordinary moment, and that’s just what he did.
